The Computer Technology (CT) program has been developed to offer training in the principles underlying the design of contemporary laptop systems. IBM establishes the 650 as its first mass-produced laptop, with the company selling 450 in only one 12 months. Spinning at 12,500 rpm, the 650´s magnetic data-storage drum allowed much faster access to stored information than other drum-primarily based machines. The Mannequin 650 was also extremely standard in universities, where a technology of students first realized programming.
