The Laptop & Networking Technology program produces graduates ready for positions as technicians and network administrators within a variety of commercial and public settings. The Management Information Company (CDC) 6600 performs up to three million instructions per second —3 times faster than that of its closest competitor, the IBM 7030 supercomputer. The 6600 retained the excellence of being the quickest computer in the world until surpassed by its successor, the CDC 7600, in 1968. Part of the pace came from the pc´s design, which used 10 small computer systems, known as peripheral processing units, to dump the workload from the central processor.
